Captains Drive in and Bob Baker Trophy

What a great start to my Captaincy. 26 players, a brilliant turnout and well done to Ciro for winning the Bob Baker Trophy and to Scouse Dave for winning the Captains drive, a colossal 155 yards against a howling wind. Also a memorable auction at which we raised over £1300 split between the RBL and my charity(Thames Valley Adventure Playground)
A sincere thank you to everyone and see you next Sunday for the Poppy Cup………Captain Steve

Congratulations to Steve Reed on assuming the captaincy on a very auspicious year for Beaconsfield Artisans.

The AGM was speedily conducted and divotting was discussed and it has been decided to carry on with the smaller, more frequent groups.

The officers of the club were elected. There was only one candidate for each of the roles so all were confirmed in place by popular vote. and are as follows:-

President Steve Dodd

Captain and Hon. Secretary Steve Reed

Hon. Treasurer Glenn Toudup

Vice Captain Andy Prickett

John Harris

Lee Homer

Danny Saia

Stuart Smith

Phil Strawa

Frank Wood

Dave Wright

September and October

We have been busy during the late summer. A successful work morning was carried out on Sept 26th, cleaning the outside furniture , roof and various jobs in the clubhouse.

We’ll done to Gary Hobbs. A score of +5 to win the Nancy Mitchell Trophy. Congratulations also to Danny Tucker for a hole in one at the 5th((9iron)

Hats off to Martin Harris for winning the Absent Friends trophy with a fabulous 43 points. Only 3 cards wrong, , not too bad but improvement can be made.

The Jardine Barrel (Three clubs and a putter) was won by our Secretary Steve Reed. He was heard to say that it was useful to use more clubs than normal

The annual presentation dinner was a great success. Beaconsfield Captain gave a speech in which he underlined our good relationship with the parent club and vice versa. He gave us all the news regarding clubhouse and course improvements and plans for the future. It was very well recieved by our members. Prize giving was very competitive, with Danny Tucker getting his usual quota byt barking at his heels were Martin Harris and Mick Monahan with 5 apiece I believe

Greensomes with the Ladies

Remember Worzel Gummidge? Well, Danny Saia rummaged through his shed and found not only his Happy Head but also his Quite Good at Golf Head. The old charmer swept his partner Allison off her feet and stormed to victory, despite the best efforts of that other former lothario, Les Goodyer with his partner , Margeret.

As per usual Lee Homer came up short but at least he beat Stuart

Weekend report from the captain 14& 15th August

Well Gentlemen, what can I say apart from what a fabulous weekend of golf it’s been.
Firstly Saturday, a big thank you to the team who beat Denham 3-2 on their own track. A course in wonderful condition, second only to ours, which goes without saying.

Sunday saw the Artisans dirty dozen beat The Presidents XII, 3.5 to 2.5. A wonderful afternoon of golf culminating in Frank Wood and Peter Grey serving up a culinary delight of lamb shank to seal the deal washed down with an excessive amount of alcohol in true Artisan style.

Montrose Cloete

Congratulations to Neil Spicer on winning the Montrose Cloete Cup with a sparkling 43 points

Reply by Neil Spicer to the many congratulations

“Cheers gents – what a weekend my youngest won the monthly junior medal at Wexham, QPR thrashed Man Utd & the Lions beat the springboks – chances of all that happening again are precisely NEVER !

Captains report from Denham Match

Well done and a big thank you to Saturday’s team which shared the spoils with Denham. An enjoyable day where the sun shone, the greens had recovered well from the maintenance that has been carried out, and the predicted down pour never materialised. Sheets are up for the remaining fixtures away at Denham, home to Ashridge and the Presidents match. Kind regards Glenn

Report From Ashridge and Lifeboat Greensomes

Many genuine and sincere thanks to 12 brave souls who survived 30 degrees heat and 30m deep 3 foot high rough at Ashridge to record a 6-0 whitewash. BAGC not lost a single match there so far this decade.

Mark Austin
