Greensomes with Beaconsfield Ladies

Friday 14th April,

Always a brilliant day and we managed to evade the rain.

The winning pair were Yoshie Funaki and Carl Piercy (42 pts), in second place, on count back, were Carole Isaac and Ciro Castaldo (41pts), and in third place also with (41pts) were Alison Baker and Steve Reed. As are the ladies,we are looking forward to the return match in September.

Please take trolleys around the outside edge of the green-side bunkers. With immediate effect winter rules are no longer in play

The course is progressing nicely for the time of year despite the cold nights. The Greens team have drilled 1000kg’s of grass seed into all of the bare and worn areas around the course which is germinating well. These areas will fill in quickly when the night time temperatures rise. A selective herbicide is being applied to all tees, carry’s, fairways, approaches and bunker faces to remove any weeds. 80 tonnes of new bunker sand is being added to the 76 bunkers around the course to improve levels.

As you know, we removed the yardage discs because they were rotting. Based on BGC member feedback, new 100 yard markers will be installed on the fairways. The 150 and 200 yard markers will not return with the current 150 posts remaining. The tree works being carried out by Network Rail along their bank are complete. All wood piles left on the course will be taken to the Artisans carpark once ground conditions allow
